C&G’s Guide to Preparing your Home for Summer

Tips & Advice

Hello Summer! Baysiders will undoubtedly be making the most of the sunshine and hitting the beach, but it’s also important to keep our homes cool and comfortable. This latest C&G blog lists some simple ways you can prepare your home for these warmer months!

Change your bedding

Who doesn’t love the feeling of crispy fresh sheets? Bamboo, cotton and linen bedding in particular are extremely lightweight and breathable, with natural temperature regulation to keep you cool through those balmy summer evenings. These small and simple choices will play a major role in keeping you comfortable and improving your quality of sleep!

Check your air conditioner and fans

It’s time to dig up the air conditioning remote – you know you’re going to need it! However, your air conditioner has likely been collecting dust throughout the year, so it’s important to check the filters and vents are clean before turning it on. This will ensure it’s not circulating dust and polluted air through your home.

If your home uses a ceiling fan, ensure it spins counter-clockwise to push air downwards and create a stronger draft. If your cooling units are due for a maintenance check, make sure to call a technician when you get a chance. The last thing you’d want are malfunctions during a heat wave!

Make room for icy treats

Whether you’re entertaining guests or treating the little ones, popsicles are guaranteed to make an appearance this Summer! Check your freezer and remove anything that no longer belongs there. More freezer space means plenty of icy treats to keep cool over the warmer months. Want some inspiration recipes to get your started?

Invest in your outdoor areas

It’s BBQ season! If you’ve yet to do so, make your backyard or deck an extension of your indoor space. This could mean a big clean, investing in outdoor furniture, or simply sprucing up the space with fresh flowers and décor.
