Every year on March 8th, the world unites in support of women everywhere. Whether it’s celebrating women’s achievements or acknowledging ongoing issues and workshopping ways to solve them, there’s no better place to get inspired than at one of Melbourne’s International Women’s Day events. With this year’s theme, ‘Balance for Better’ recognising gender imbalance in the workforce, politics, sports, arts and everyday life, be a part of this empowering day with C&G’s guide to celebrating International Women’s Day in Bayside.

 1.    IWD: Celebrating Women in Sport – Brighton Town Hall

 Celebrate IWD with an evening event featuring the sporting achievements of diverse women. Hosted by Highett Neighbourhood Community House, hear from 2018 Victorian of the Year, Susan Alberti and an inspiring panel of sportswomen, Jillian Chalmers, Felicity Frederico, Michelle Jelleff and Jemma Owens on how they are changing the sports industry. Tickets include refreshments.

2.    IWD: Breakfast Community Event – Sandringham Yacht Club

Enjoy this brekkie networking event with special guest, Melinda Tankard-Reist, an empowering speaker, author, media commentator and advocate for women and girls. Best known for her work in addressing sexualisation, pornography, sexual exploitation and violence against women, Melinda will discuss her interesting personal story and how it influences her important work today.

3.    IWD: Live, Love, Work Port Phillip – Albert Park

Come together and celebrate the women of Port Phillip. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, network with locals, and hear from inspiring guest speaker, artist, remote area nurse and midwife, Helen Read. Tickets support the CWA Port Phillip and other initiatives.

Friday 8 March 2019, 7:15am – The Vincent
