C&G’s Guide to Finding the Fireworks

Tips & Advice

Can you believe it’s been a whole year? Neither can we! 2019 may or may not have been your year – regardless, we all deserve some fireworks to celebrate. C&G’s latest blog rounds up some great places to kick back with family or friends, and bid farewell to the last 12 months. You can celebrate Bayside, or head into the city for the official countdown. Bring on 2020!

Celebrating Bayside

Half Moon Bay Beach

You’ll get a great view of the fireworks as well as the HMVS Cerberus, the remains of a 1870s battleship. This picturesque beach will be quieter without the large crowds so you can really set up a beach rug and enjoy delicious fish and chips from the Cerberus Beach House.

St Kilda Foreshore

Start with dinner on Acland Street or Fitzroy Street, before finding a cosy spot on one of Bayside’s most popular beaches. St Kilda is easily accessible with 3 different tram lines running through, as well as plenty of street parking.

Williamstown Beach

This could be the quiet alternative when the crowd flocks to the other locations. Did you know this is the home to Melbourne’s first sea port? Williamstown also offers an array of nearby restaurants and cafes so you can make a memorable day out of it!

The Official Fireworks Celebrations Zones

For the party people who want to make it official! This year the official fireworks will be happening at 4 locations: Treasury Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens, Docklands and Kings Domain. Each spot will kick off with a 2019 music video retrospective at 9pm, followed by live music entertainment from different local DJs. These are the best inner-city venues to catch the fireworks, with food trucks and amenities right at your fingertips. Of course, the multimedia countdown will start just seconds before the clock strikes midnight!

These locations are all easily accessible via the major city loop train stations as well as numerous tram lines. The event will also help raise funds for the Salvation Army Emergency Services who are responding to bushfires in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. All the Fireworks Celebrations Zones will have a collection point, where you can donate to the Salvation Army Disaster Appeal. You can choose to end or start your year with a good deed!
