Tips & Advice

Whether you want to become more tech-literate or you’ve always fancied yourself as a master of a foreign language, there’s somewhere to upskill in Bayside. In today’s blog, C&G share some of the best adult learning classes in the local area.

Bayside City Council

With winter events like rochet lessons or memoir writing courses on offer, there’s capacity to learn new skills you never even knew you’d find interesting. With many classes often free, it’s the perfect way to switch up your weekly schedule and meet new people from the local community.

Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre

Hosting a number of events with Bayside City Council, the Gallery at the Arts and Cultural Centre is home to artist series classes like ‘Visual Thinking Strategies’, teaching critical thinking through art observation or ‘Art + Dementia’, a free program for carers and dementia patients to learn about art from trained facilitators.

Sandy Beach Centre

The Sandy Beach Centre offers a whole host of classes, from fitness and wellbeing to writing, arts and languages. Often on multi-week programs, this is your chance to get stuck into learning something new and stick at it.

City of Port Phillip

The City of Port Phillip runs a ‘Lifelong Learning’ program that’s packed with classes and courses in every discipline. Learn a language, improve your numeracy, learn first aid or become a better writer – there’s something for everyone at events across the region. Browse the full 2019 program in PDF form here.
