C&G’s Guide to 2020 Property Design Trends

Tips & Advice

2020 is the year to level up – physically and mentally – with our home interiors. The new year is in full force and it’s time to embrace change and fresh starts. Whether you’re buying or renting, C&G’s latest blog contains our most anticipated trends for livening up your space!

Get into the green scene

Indoor plants are more popular than ever, and in 2020 it will only continue to thrive (with the hope your plants will too). From creative décor to cleaner air, there are many benefits indoor plants can provide to your home.

Our favourites Bayside nurseries include Elwood’s local Bayside Gardenworld, priding itself on an extensive range of indoor plants, along with the ability to assist with any garden design, maintenance or landscape needs. We also love St Kilda’s Pop Wilder, who offer mobile plant consultation, design and retail opportunities for both commercial and residential spaces.

Eco-friendly and sustainability

Not only is there a trend to go green (literally!) bringing plants into our homes, but the demand for environmentally friendly homes is growing. People are looking for pieces that make their living space more meaningful, while respecting our planet.

Shopping local gives back to our economy and eco-friendly products can ultimately save you money in the future. You can also consider thrift shops – it’s another great way to source sustainable and savvy goods. Bayside Op Shops has plenty of suggestions for where you might find some gems. Otherwise Oxfam shops and brick-and-mortar stores around Melbourne have a great deal to offer.

Colours speak louder than words

Dulux’s annual colour forecast is set, with 2020’s theme being “centre yourself, breathe and reconnect.”

With palettes entitled Grounded, Comeback, Cultivate and Indulge, we’ll be seeing more neutral tones, colours that blend contemporary design (rich blues), and colours to create a mood (tonal greens, decadent rich reds and earthy browns). There’s something for busy bees, hopeless romantics, and those looking to reconnect more with nature. These are gorgeous but neutral tones you won’t grow old of – colour us stoked.

Solar panels

2019 was a breakthrough year for solar – it proved to be an investment that effectively pays off in the future. However, it is just as important to pay attention to the safety standards when installing solar panels. This report from ABC explains further. Likewise, if you’re new to the solar world this article by Choice dives into making the best purchase tailored to your home needs. You can consider size, quantity, price and selective benefits.
