March will see Melbourne strut its stuff in the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Boasting runway and business events, cultural programs and glamorous pre- and post-show activities, this annual festival brings the best from Australia’s top and emerging designers. C&G takes a look at the best events to see and be seen at.
Presented by David Jones and supported by Vogue Australia, the Opening Event of the festival is naturally the best way to start your VAMFF experience. With over 3000 fashion fanatics in attendance, this is a great opportunity to splurge and join the VIP crowd for a seriously fabulous time – including access to the exclusive after-party where you’ll rub shoulders with the who’s who of Australia’s fashion industry (not to mention a few celebrities!).
The National Graduate Showcase, presented by Target, is a platform to flaunt some of the country’s most exceptional emerging talent in the fashion industry. Carefully selected from Australia’s top design schools and programs, the event will showcase twelve fashion graduates and their original collections. An inspiring glimpse into the creative minds of some of our sharpest talent and Australia’s fashion future.
VAMFF is also conducting a series of highly acclaimed fashion business events. This program is spearheaded by The Business Seminar, a full-day event that hosts local and international speakers in a discussion of fashion, design and retail. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with some incredible industry leaders and peers – the event also includes a business networking lunch and post-event cocktails.
Lastly, don’t forget to pop into the L’Oreal Paris Boutique in the festival’s fashion precinct for a spot of indulgence.
