C&G’s Ultimate Guide to Winter School Holidays Bayside

Local Community

With the winter solstice soon upon us and school holidays looming in the coming week, it’s time to throw off those winter blues and spend some warming, quality time with our families. Today, C&G find out what’s on in the Bayside area to keep little ones entertained over the winter break.

If Melbourne weather lives up to its infamous “four-seasons-in-one-day” reputation, you may find a sunny winter day to visit Gardenworld in Braeside. While the nursery is an attraction throughout the year thanks to its permanent prehistoric guests, it is holding a special “Reptiles on Show” event during June and early July. From 10am-4pm, your children can learn about the lives of frogs, snakes and lizards - plus the chance to have their photo snapped with a slithery friend. If the weather doesn’t perk up for your daytrip, the café is on hand to provide tasty treats and coffee.

If Gardenworld and its dinos aren’t enough to satisfy your budding palaeontologist, Dinosaur Adventures is being held at Caulfield Racecourse. After witnessing an amazing animatronic show, dress up as a dino-expert and get down and dirty to discover your own fossil. Dinosaur Adventures runs from June 21st to July 20th, with bookings a must!

For those who are a little time-poor during the coming weeks, C&G have drummed up the best holiday programs available in the Bayside area. Bayside City Council are running an “X-treme Teen” holiday program for 10-17 year olds from the 30th of June, with excursions to Melbourne  attractions, including  the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel,  MSAC and  Williamstown Ghost tours

Team Holiday, founded in the Bayside area, is another option to keep your kids active during the break. Offering fun for kids aged 5-12 and 10-15, the programs are structured to build confidence, self-esteem and teamwork while keeping kids engaged with daily activities, such as movies, a trip to the arcade, bowling, and exciting adventures like go-karting and paintball..
