Beat Boredom Bayside this Winter

Local Community

Misty mornings and soggy afternoons; that’s right it’s winter time in Melbourne! Don’t give in to the desire to hibernate all season - it may be cold outside, but Bayside is heating up with some excellent events for all ages. In today’s
C&G blog, we present our best picks to keep you warm and entertained this winter!

Jane Austen in Theatre @ Bayside library

Lise Rogers gives a unique look into the life and works of Jane Austen with her one-act theatrical performance at the Bayside Library in Beaumaris on July 18th. Presented on the anniversary of Austen’s death, the performance draws on Austen’s personal letters and excerpts from one her most well-known novels, Pride and Prejudice. Rogers is set to inspire a new appreciation for one of Britain’s most beloved female authors.

Farm Fresh Produce @ Sandringham

A roast is definitely a staple on the winter menu in Melbourne. But what is a roast without some delicious root vegetables on the side? Luckily the Bayside Farmers Market has just the thing for you. Held on the third Saturday of every month, locals are able to sample from over 80 different stalls with some of the best produce Sandringham has to offer. Fruit and veg, olives, jams, bread and even some beer and wine to compliment your winter feast.

Winter Fireworks @ Docklands

The night sky is set to come alive every Friday this July with a sensational fireworks show. With an accompanying entertainment program from the 6pm, this free event is not to be missed. The Melbourne Star provides one of the best vantage points to watch the display that kicks off at 7.30pm.

Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show 2015 @ Showgrounds

If there’s one thing that everyone is loving at the moment, it’s adorable fuzzy animals. And there is nothing more adorable and fuzzy than an alpaca. Now you can admire them in all their splendour at the Melbourne Showgrounds from Saturday July 11th. The best alpacas from all around Australia will be judged on the quality of their colour and fleece, with plenty of time for pats from the public afterwards. Not to be missed!
