A Date With Kevin McLeod & Paul Bangay

Local Community

Have we piqued your interest? We know many a C&G team member who would give up coffee for a week for a date with either legend of interior and garden design. And although you may not personally be going for coffee with Kevin McLeod or Paul Bangay – the next few weeks offers Melbournites the opportunity to get pretty darn close. Chisholm & Gamon reports on the schmancy, wonderful home and garden inspiration to come at Grand Designs Melbourne and Paul Bangay’s ‘Stonefield’ Open House.

Bit of a renovation reality TV tragic? No show in the genre is more select than Grand Design, which is touring (along with its host, Kevin McLeod) around Australia in October. The Melbourne Convention Centre will be chock-a-block with inspiration for you from the 25-27th of October, where you’ll see the best and brightest across multiple aspects of the home: Grand Building, Grand Interiors, Grand Kitchens, Grand Bathrooms and Grand Outdoors. Hear from experts across a range of renovation and design disciplines including (naturally) Kevin McLeod, Peter Maddison (the host of Grand Designs Australia), Shaynna Blaze (of The Block fame) and Veronica Morgan (of Relocation, Relocation). The Melbourne Grad Designs event will also present you with The House of the Future, showcasing the technological edge of design and gadgetry, in addition to the Sustainable Building Stage. If you’ve got blueprints or ideas – make sure to bring them along with you and take a few minutes with the array of experts onsite.  Click here for more details and tickets.

If a day with K-Mac simply isn’t enough for you, why not pop along to hear him in raconteur fine form on Monday 28th October at The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Centre? He’ll be ‘dishing the dirt’ on what really happens on Grand Designs after the cameras stop rolling. Expect to hear about the import of good design, and the construction of affordable housing. Are you a green thumb, or simply a person who enjoys a fine snack and beverage in the garden? Be tickled pink by a day at Stonefields by celebrity landscape gardener Paul Bangay. Resplendent over seven acres, the parterred landscape features a circular woodland garden, walled rose garden, terrace with sweeping views and an established veggie garden.  In collaboration with Stephanie Alexander’s Kitchen Garden Foundation, you have the opportunity to visit Paul Bangay’s famous garden in Denver, rural Victoria on the weekend of the 23rd-24th November (just outside of Daylesford). With intimate tours of only 40 people per group, the tickets will be snapped up quickly (all profits going straight to the Kitchen Garden Foundation). Click here for details on tickets. You can also get in the spirit by purchasing Paul’s beautiful coffee-table book ‘The Garden at Stonefields’.
