A Bayside Story: Bay Street, Brighton

Local Community

Ending with a beautiful beach vista, Bay Street in Brighton combines the feeling of seaside peace and relaxation with a family friendly, modern atmosphere. With this in mind, C&G went exploring to find out what Bay Street has to offer.

At first glance, it is obvious that Bay Street offers a plethora of different cafés, restaurants and bakeries. Bossy Boots - a trendy little café in the heart of Bay Street - not only has a scrumptious breakfast and lunch menu, it also offers fresh, homemade produce and hampers for special picnics and the “real foodies” amongst you.

For something that opens a little later, Rocksalt offers a fine selection of cuisine, including a delicious breakfast served until 3.30PM and both gluten-free and vegetarian options. Rocksalt can also take care of your catering needs for functions and have a comprehensive menu available on their website. For special events such as corporate functions, weddings and celebrations, The International  of Brighton is a famous venue which offers a special experience with a variety of different rooms to accommodate your group.

As well as a bustling food trade, the Bay Street precinct offers an assortment of activities and for the family-minded and energetic. The Brighton Swim School has several programs available, from baby to adult classes plus a high performance swim squad. If you don’t like the idea of getting your feet wet, a walk with your furry friend along the extensive walkways by the beach may provide you with the exercise that you need.

For the more graceful and creative amongst us, The Brighton Dance Academy could be the place for you to express your inner ballet dancer. Established in 1965, the BDA has something for all aspiring dancers, with plenty of styles to choose from in the youth section and a recent addition of adult ballet classes for those who aren’t quite as flexible. Each year, BDA presents a dance performance for all attendees of the school, held at the National Theatre in St. Kilda.
