There are always plenty of things to do in Melbourne on Australia Day, but you needn’t travel into the city to catch the best of them. C&G brings you Bayside’s top family friendly events, and with the weather forecasted as mostly sunny, it’s a great day to get involved with the community and celebrate our beautiful nation.

Australia Day Swim - Mount Martha        

This fundraising event  - coordinated by Mouth Martha Lifesaving Club and Optus  - features a swimming competition for all ages and abilities. With trophies and prizes awarded throughout the day, over 100 lifesaving personnel will oversee the event.

Great Australia Day Swim - Brighton

This iconic swim is the best way to start and celebrate Australia Day. Events for every age group, you can compete in swim races or enjoy the food and live entertainment on offer. Head to Middle Brighton Pier to get swimming!

 Australia Day Parties – St Kilda

No one throws a party quite like Riva! The Riva Down Under party will have the best local DJs spinning tunes all day featuring headliners Timmy Trumpet, Will Sparks and Stafford Brothers.

 Luna Park – St Kilda

The last weekend of Luna Park’s summer school holidays event means it’s going to be best one yet! With two new rides, Speedy Beetle and Moon Balloons, enjoy as you spin, twist and lift to the skies! Also take advantage of the discounted ‘Family Luna Park’ pass.

Alice in Wonderland – Elsternwick

The Australian Shakespeare Company with Rippon Lea House and Gardens presents an outdoor spectacular adaption of Alice in Wonderland. Join Alice as she journeys down the rabbit hole and discovers a magical world of wonder. This entertaining production is perfect for a family day out.
