C&G’s Guide to the Reclink Community Cup 2019

Tips & Advice

Celebrate 25 years of community fundraising, homegrown music and amateur footy with Melbourne’s annual Reclink Community Cup. Kicking off on 23 Sunday June 2019, here’s what to expect with C&G’s guide to celebrating the Reclink Community Cup.

The Good Cause

Reclink raise funds to provide sports and art programs for some of our community’s most disadvantaged members. In partnership with more than 200 community organisations, Reclink Australia create socially inclusive and life-changing opportunities. The Reclink Community Cup is their biggest annual event, with funds raised supporting at-risk youth and people with mental illness and substance addiction to experience improved health and wellbeing. This year’s event will be held across seven cities and will assist Reclink to make a bigger impact on communities than ever before. This year’s theme, ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ will be celebrated by each host city, offering a little clue about one of the main music acts.

The Music

While the footy match may be the main drawcard, this Melbourne event is renowned for bringing together an incredible line-up of pre, half and post-match headliners. Featured musicians this year include Magic Dirt, Dan Sultan, Paul Kelly (in case you didn’t get the theme!), Baker Boy, Harvey Sutherland, RVG, DJ JNETT & YSB and Litt Queens. Each year has a pseudo-music theme and if you haven’t sensed aussie rock ‘n’ roll, there’ll be a few guitar solos to remind you. There are also kids’ entertainers to ensure everyone’s ears are blissed with delightful music.

The Match

Bringing the game back to Collingwood’s home of football Victoria Park (and the broadcasters’ home turf), watch and cheer on the Megahertz (Community Radio Triple R 102.7FM & PBS 106.7FM) take on the ESPY Rockdogs (musicians).

Last year, the cup saw 10,000 fans through the gates and raised a staggering $170,000. Brave the winter this June in helping Reclink raise funds for this incredible cause. Tickets for the Reclink Community Cup can be purchased at the gate or via this link here.
