C&G’s Guide to Styling Your Home for Christmas

Tips & Advice

You don’t have to go further than the local supermarket to see that the silly season is here! December will undoubtedly be a busy month for everyone, but we can embrace the festive spirit by adding some joy to our homes. Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, C&G’s latest blog is full of cheerful suggestions for styling your home just in time for a relaxing Christmas!

Start with a tree

It’s the most recognisable element of this holiday season, so you’re already in the game by bringing in a tree! Make sure you check the dimensions of your space before you go tree shopping, regardless of whether it’s an artificial one or the real thing. You don’t want one that’s too small to hang decorations on but avoid one that’s just simply too big!

Choose your decorations

Start with a colour scheme. Red and green are the iconic Christmas colours, but you can add some glittery sparkle with gold or silver. When you pick out your decorations, you can be assured they’ll all complement each other and not appear too crazy. This is also where your creative spirit shines – you can go for stylish baubles or embrace your wild side with tinsel! Add some presents (real or decorative) under your tree. You can have fun with the different wrapping patterns and textures, as well as ribbons and bows.

Or craft your own

Get your loved ones involved in some arts and crafts and create your own Christmas decorations. This is a great idea for family bonding time and could be the start of new traditions. Your home will look more personalised, and who knows, it could spark some new hobbies!

Don’t stop there

You don’t have to stop at the tree. Add something festive to each room – all these new colours will certainly pop in any space. You can swap out your regular bookends for reindeer ones, or add joyful hand towels to the bathroom. Hang some stockings up – you can fill them with decorations to make a display or even use them as storage! Candles, bon-bons, wreaths and fridge magnets are small and subtle items that could go a long way.
