C&G’s Guide to Melbourne Writers Festival
Melbourne Writers Festival is back this year with its literary array of presentations, performances, and interactive events. Whether you are an occasional romantic novelist or simply obsessed with MAFS, this year’s theme ‘When We Talk About Love’ will be a perfect match! It will explore everything from the ‘first flush’ of experiencing new love to letting go of the past and making peace with past relationships. The event will be run from 30 August until 8 September. Today’s C&G blog gives you a glimpse of our most anticipated events.
Why are we so obsessed with the Bachelor and MAFS? And what makes someone jump on a reality show to find love? Join Clementine Ford, Meriki Onus, Michael Rowland and Sami Shah as they discuss how reality TV speaks to the hopeless romantic in all of us.
Partners can come and go, but friends are forever. MWF’s resident love guru Emilie Zoey Baker hosts this interactive event and will be performing a mass friendship commitment ceremony so you can tell your best friends how much they mean to you. The best part is you don’t have to just marry one friend, marry them all!
Stars of The Katering Show and Get Krack!n – Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan – will be hosting their own one-hour hen’s night at Melba Spiegeltent in Collingwood. Book your tickets for an evening of pure comedy featuring a line-up of performers and live music. There is also a surprise for one lucky hen!
You probably don’t want to remember your teenage bedroom walls… you know, the ones holding up the collages of younger Ryan Gosling and Johnny Depp? Laugh about your teen crushes in this humorous session as a number of artists reveal their teen obsessions and discuss what their crushes tell us about our identity, sexuality and future relationships.
