C&G’s Guide to DineSmart 2019

Tips & Advice

Charity start-up StreetSmart are once again collaborating with Melbourne restaurants through their DineSmart program occurring from 21st November until 31st December. StreetSmart’s foundation was built on the belief that housing is a human right, recognition that homelessness is caused by multiple factors, and that programs advocating change are crucial towards combatting the issue. Their collaboration with DineSmart partners means that everyone can become involved, with funds raised being donated to local grassroot projects making a difference. This latest C&G blog lists some participating restaurants, so your next meal out could be contributing to a good cause!

Fitzrovia

St Kilda locals can head to Fitzroy Street for contemporary Australian cuisine in a Victorian setting. Fitzrovia offers breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, with dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. You should definitely also check out their exclusive events, which include picnics and special Friday evening happenings.

Grand Trailer Park Taverna

If you feel like enjoying a juicy burger in the back of a trailer, then you’ve come to the right place! Grand Trailer Park Taverna, as the name suggests, is an American trailer-themed diner offering amazing burgers. With names like ‘Thanos’ and ‘The Chunk Double Double’ on the menu, you know you’re getting your money’s worth. In true American diner style, pair it with a milkshake or treat yourself to the bold desserts and cocktails. Bookings can be made directly on their website or by giving them a call.

Hanoi Hannah Vol.II

Another Bayside local in Elsternwick! This Vietnamese restaurant reopened earlier this year, having doubled in size but still serving the classics such as banh mi, pho and Hanoi-style spring rolls. They offer Yum Cha every Saturday and the new bar is also more spacious so you’ll be able to enjoy refreshing Vietnamese-style cocktails and punch bowls. The extra seats also means the restaurant can now take bookings!

Mesa Verde

This hidden Mexican gem is located on the 6th floor of Melbourne’s iconic Curtin House. You’ll find all your favourite Mexican dishes here such as tacos, totopos, and quesadillas with Mesa Verde’s own bold twist added. Of course, there is also no shortage of margaritas!

Supernormal

For an extraordinary dining experience, head to Flinders Lane where you’ll find this classy and intimate venue. Inspired by Asian flavours from Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong, Supernormal is known for their delicious lobster rolls and creative desserts. It’s always a good idea to book but they are just as happy to accept walk-ins.
