The C&G Guide to Bayside’s Outdoor Cinemas

Local Community

Warmer weather brings Melbourne to life, with summer events on the cards every day of the week. One of our faves? Outdoor cinema. C&G has rounded up the best Bayside outdoor cinemas for you to fill your calendars with.

Gasworks Sunset Cinema, Albert Park

Bask in the glow of the twilight hour at the newest addition to the outdoor cinema crowd. Running throughout November only, the Gasworks Sunset Cinema sessions are your chance to make spring feel like summer. Screening everything from thrillers to classics, you can BYO picnic, rug and crew, and enjoy an evening of Instagram-worthy proportions. View the program and get booking!

Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinema, St Kilda

As the name suggests, this is no ordinary outdoor cinema experience! For the ultimate summertime adventure, head down to the south beach reserve and enjoy 80s classics and childhood tales of nostalgia. Each movie is preceded by DJ sets, polo and live music to enhance the chilled summer vibe found only in Bayside. Oh, and on Sundays, enjoy free B&J ice cream. Bonus!

Moonlight Cinema, Royal Botanical Gardens

One of Melbourne’s most popular alfresco movie events, Moonlight Cinema pitches up at the lush green surrounds of the Royal Botanical Gardens. The hilltop location invites you to spread your picnic rugs wide and sip on your finest summer coolers as you enjoy a selection of the newest Hollywood blockbusters. Fear not, the occasional classic is thrown in, too. Oh, and there’s bean beds available for hire, to take the comfort to another level.

If you’re venturing further afield, the CBD’s QV Square will be transformed into a deck chair cinema, as well as the famous Curtin House hosting Rooftop Cinema for another year.
