The Autumn School Holidays: Week 2 Highlights

As you may know from our recent blog, there’s plenty going on in the Bayside area for the school holidays. Indeed, having turned the clocks back and settled into the cooler weather, there are still more fun activities to be ticked off! Read on to discover C&G's top picks for the week of April 10 to 17, including Easter adventures for the whole family.

Family days for all ages

On Fri April 14 (Good Friday), discover Frankston’s Good Friday Family Day, an ‘Easter Egg Bonanza’ at Green Olive Red Hill or The Big Goose Egg Scramble in Moorooduc. The Melbourne Easter Show is also on at Lawson Poole Reserve in Cranbourne throughout the long weekend, and will feature Easter Egg hunts each day at 10.20am. Get tickets for the egg hunt here.

If you’re heading out of town for the long weekend, Bayside City Council’s Easter EGGstravaganza takes place early (Thursday, April 13) at Peterson Youth Centre in Highett, but bookings are essential

You can also visit South Melbourne Market in the lead-up to Easter, where kids will have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny, who’ll be hopping about distributing chocolatey treats. Check times here.

For primary school-aged children

Easter Fun Day at Rippon Lea Estate will take Place on Easter Sunday (April 16) from 10am to 4pm. There’ll be an egg hunt in the grounds, boat rides, mansion tours and plenty of furry friends, including the Easter Bunny and the ‘Ripplea Bear.’ Get tickets here.

For a children’s day out with a twist, Beleura House and Gardens in Mornington will be hosting a ‘Hansel and Gretel Children’s Day.’ Just a short drive from C&G’s Mount Martha office, the stunning heritage location is the perfect place for an enchanted adventure involving storytelling and afternoon tea. Bookings are essential.  

For teenagers 

St Kilda’s Luna Park has two seasonal rides open for Easter in addition to the Great Luna Park Easter Egg Hunt! The hunt takes place on Easter Sunday, April 16 and each round includes four separate hunts for age groups 0-4, 5-8, 9-11 and ages 12 plus. 

For teens in the Mount Martha area, grab your mates and head to The Briars Food Truck Carnivale over the Easter long weekend to enjoy great street food, live music and a free outdoor cinema in the evenings.

Budding Southside creatives may also enjoy a workshop with designer Stephen Mushin, who’ll be running an introduction to design thinking at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery on April 7.
