School Holiday Fun

Local Community

Now that the excitement of Christmas and New Year is over, the realisation that there are still a few weeks left of the school holidays dawns on those of us with children to entertain. But never fear! Chisholm and Gamon have come up with some ways for you and the kids alike to have some fun this summer.

An oldie but a goodie for school holiday fun is visiting one of the zoos in and around Melbourne. You’ve got the choice of Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary.

For an extra special treat for animal loving primary-aged children, book the kids in for Kids Go Wild at Melbourne Zoo. They’ll be treated to a day of exploring exclusive areas of the zoo, meeting animals and zookeepers alike, having fun with craft projects and games and getting to make new friends!

High school-aged kids have the opportunity to be a Zoo Keeper for the Day at both Healesville and Werribee, or a Vet for the Day at Healesville

If the kids you know have an abundance of energy to burn, it might be worth a visit to BOUNCEinc in Glen Iris – a stadium filled wall-to-wall with trampolines. The young ones will have a ball, get some exercise and thoroughly wear themselves out, which ticks boxes in any parent’s book.

It’s quite possible you’ll want to join in on all the fun, and why not?! Trampolining boasts various health benefits for both adults and children, and most areas of BOUNCEinc are designed for anyone over 110cm. For those kids who are waiting on a growth spurt, Junior Jumper sessions run Monday to Friday.

Maybe the idea of jumping about doesn’t tickle your fancy. That’s fine - the BOUNCEinc tuckshop offers views of all the trampolining areas, so you can sit back with a coffee and still keep an eye on the kids.

If it’s adventure you’re after, there’s no better choice than a drive down to the Mornington Peninsula and the Enchanted Adventure Garden at Arthurs Seat.

There are loads of activities on offer, including tube slides, the bush adventure scramble, enchanted gardens, sculptures to explore, and of course, the mazes.  All of this is included in the price of admission – the only activity not included in that price is tree surfing, for an adventure amongst the treetops! (Oh, and the lolly shop!)
