Rock Out: C&G On Melbourne Music Week 2014

Local Community

A tuneful pairing of the two things we love best (apart from property and the bayside community): Melbourne and music. Melbourne Music Week comes to town from the 14th – 23rd of November, offering performances from over 250 local and international cross-genre artists at 40 quirky event spaces including trams, laneways, substations, elevators and architectural institutions of our town. In today’s brief blog, C&G present an overview of MMW 2014. Bring earphones – it’s gonna get LOUD!

Architectural Sounds

MMW provides you with an opportunity to see spaces your city imagined in another light, accompanied by new sounds. After having pop-up venues including Where?House by the Yarra in 2012 and The Residence in2013 (the iconic abandoned tower on the corner of Lonsdale and Elizabeth Streets) – 2014 brings MMW to the Queen Victoria Market. One thing is certain – the locally-sourced gourmet fare on offer will be a treat! Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be on offer for you to eat ‘between sets’ – choose from BBQ goodness via Fancy Hank’s and Hammer & Tong and indulge in bao and dumplings from Supernormal and Wonderbao

Live Music Safari

An incredibly popular MMW event each year, Live Music Safari on Thursday 20th of November makes the city your auditory playground – with 14 venues opening their doors for a night of free music. Indie legends Kingswood will kick off the Live Music Safari proceedings at the Queen Vic Market, replete with a Harley Davidson-inspired temporary motorbike hangout, The Shed.  Pop along to The Hi-Fi and Kelvin Club, or head down to Tattersalls Lane to see Section 8 and Ferdyduke take over the street with an audio-visual extravaganza!

Opening Night Celebration

Get the party started right with Architecture In Helsinki supported by Rainbow Connection and Total Giovanni (inset, above) – the good-vibing headline act entering a new stage in their pop evolution with album NOW + 4EVA. Expect a tub-thumping opening night with ‘shamanic disco’, heartbreak house and boogie decadence – book your tickets now.
