Footy fare

With so many games to watch in the lead-up to the Grand Final on Saturday, October 1st, why resort to Four’n Twenty pies (even though we do love them) when there are so many outstanding bakeries in the Bayside area?

With a dozen pies to choose from, the range at Ferguson Plarre Bakehouse in Highett sure is a tasty one! For a good ol’ dogs eye and dead horse, opt for the standard beef pie – it’s an award winner!

For next-level pies, hit up Pure Pie in Port Melbourne. They’re not cheap, but they are amazing – with an all-butter sour cream pie base, the sauces are to die for and the meat is of an exceptionally high quality. Top that off with hand-crimped golden puff pastry, and you’ve well and truly got your money’s worth.

In St Kilda, Baker D. Chirico’s Beef Ragu pie gets a solid 9/10 from Good Food, so they’re also worth a try.
