Local Community

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so it’s likely that finding a fun way to express adoration is on your mind. From pop-up cinemas and mysterious treasure hunts to seafood feasts by the beach, C&G has compiled the ultimate guide to celebrating your day of love on the southside.

Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Cinema

For the lovers-on-a-budget, Acland Street Plaza is offering a free pop-up cinema, screening the star-studded and appropriately titled rom-com, Valentine’s Day! Screening from 9pm, you’ll have plenty of time to grab a bite beforehand at one of St Kilda’s hotspots, or enjoy some sensual gelato.

Luna Love at Luna Park

Luna Park is the classic date-night of a bygone era. Celebrating its 104 year-long heritage, the local icon is laying on a Valentine’s special package. Enjoy unlimited rides for you and your special someone, a ride on the romantic scenic railway (plus souvenir photo) and fairy floss to share! For just $65 per couple, enjoy Feb 14 at one of Melbourne’s best icons, overlooking Port Phillip Bay at its finest. Finish off with a trip to one of Acland Street’s tasty cake shops to satisfy your sweetheart tooth.

Beachside Dining at Sails on the Bay

Elwood’s waterfront dining destination, Sails on the Bay, is hosting a four-course Valentine’s menu against a stunning beach sunset backdrop. Showcasing the finest seasonal produce and a true taste of Bayside, you’ll enjoy all sorts of oceanic delights, from oysters and cured salmon to eye fillet steak plump gnocci.

Hunting for Treasure in the CBD

For the seeker of something different, Valentine’s Day kicks off early at 10am on Sunday 12 Feb in the CBD with the City of Love: Out Of The Ordinary celebration. Team up with your bae to hunt for treasure using hidden clues that’ll teach you about Melbourne’s rich cultural history. You’ll be competing for a romantic meal for two worth $100, so put your all into it! Once you’ve completed the sequence of clues, sit down to a storytelling and jazz performance by Jackie Bornstein, showcasing love songs from across the globe.

Good Old Movies

If you’re more of a classic back-row-at-the-movies romancer, there’s plenty of blockbuster hits available to woo your loved one. Get frisky at Fifty Shades Darker, or fall in love with La La Land. Why not go all out at Gold Class or Hoyts LUX? You’ll enjoy indulgent treats brought to you during the movie, and in some cases, unlimited popcorn! If that doesn’t say ‘I love you’, we don’t know what does!

At Chisholm & Gamon, our one true love is real estate, and we declare our love of all things property on a daily basis. If you’ve got a property sale that needs some tender love and care, we invite you to pop into one of our Bayside offices for a friendly chat.
