C&G’s Guide to Steptember

Local Community

Are you up for a challenge? One that involves Spring sunshine, blue skies and fresh air? We thought you might be interested! This year C&G are encouraging our friends to take part in Steptember. There’s no better reason to lace up your walking shoes and get out in the sunshine than to support a great cause – so we’ve put together some great Bayside walks to get you moving this Steptember.

About Steptember

Want to participate in Steptember? Commit to taking 10,000 steps a day for 28 days straight, and ask your friends and family to sponsor you along the way. Every dollar raised helps people with cerebral palsy — a condition that affects movement. There are plenty of different physical activities that count towards your Steptember activity quota - you can swim, cycle and take part in any exercise that gets you moving for a great cause. Here are C&G’s favorite Bayside leisure trails to help you achieve your Steptember commitment.

The Bay Trail

This fantastic boardwalk promenade between St Kilda and Brighton is a scenic stroll loved by locals. Whether you are cycling, walking, jogging or rollerblading, the Bay Trail will help get your steps up stat! On your travels, you’ll see Luna Park, Acland Street’s famous shops, the St Kilda Marina in addition to beach-goers, yachts and fellow steppers.

The Solar System Trail

The Solar System Trail is an exciting way to mix up your Steptember activity. A collaborative community project involving scientists, artists and St Kilda locals - this as a one: one billion scale model of the Solar System as we know it! Test your Solar System knowledge and try to guess which planet you’ll be stepping up to next.

Moysey Walk, Beaumaris

Starting at the Beaumaris Community Centre, the Moysey Walk is 3.9km and features stunning glimpses of Port Phillip Bay. Named after one of the earliest families to settle in the region, it’s ideal for a sunny day stroll. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may see some local wildlife - echidnas, possums, pelicans, blue tongued lizards, cockatoos and galahs have all been spotted on the trail!

The Bayside Coastal Art Trail

Ready for a long weekend walk? Melbourne’s artistic history is celebrated along the 17km Bayside Coastal Art Trail, stretching from Brighton to Beaumaris. There are 42 stops along the trail, and each one is complemented by a two-minute audio guide - so feel welcome to take the walk at your own pace! The Coastal Art Trail commemorates the lives and artworks of several great Australian artists from the Heidelberg School.

Enjoy these Bayside strolls and feel great knowing that you have increased your fitness, and made a difference to the lives of those with cerebral palsy! Register for Steptember here.
