C&G’s Guide to Honouring ANZAC Day in Bayside

Aside from just a relaxing extra day off, the ANZAC Day long weekend is our chance to honour those who fought for our country. In today’s blog, C&G have rounded up what’s going on this ANZAC Day in Melbourne’s southern suburbs.

Dawn Service at Hampton RSL

If you’re an early riser, join Hampton RSL for the dawn service to pay your respects and stand tall in honour of the Australian and New Zealand spirit. Lay poppies and share the experience with other Bayside residents.

Dawn Service at Brighton Green Point

From 5.30am, another local dawn service will commence at Green Point on Brighton Beach. Honour the 100th anniversary of our troops landing in Gallipoli while enjoying a refreshing Bayside sunrise.

Campari House Rooftop Party

Once you’ve recovered from the early alarm for the dawn service, Campari House in the city is hosting a rooftop party to celebrate our connection with New Zealand. An afternoon of trivia, Australian and New Zealand anthems and plenty of local beers.

Footy Screening Party

Also in the city, the European Bier Café is hosting an Australia and New Zealand AFL and NRL footy party to commemorate the ANZAC Day games and bring us all together. With pizza and beer deals all day, it’s a great spot to spend your Monday.

Collingwood v Essendon ANZAC Day Game

It wouldn’t be ANZAC Day without the classic Collingwood v Essendon clash. Relax at home with the family or head out to a local Bayside bar to watch all the action. The Cricketers Arms and The Local in Port Melbourne are both great spots to catch the game.

Whatever you’re up to, we hope you enjoy the long weekend and remember those who fought in our honour 100 years ago. Tag us in your long weekend events on Twitter, @ChisholmGamonRE
