C&G’s Guide to Bayside Tennis Centres

Local Community

After a thrilling two weeks of tennis, another Wimbledon has come to an end. If Federer’s court action left you yearning to pick up the racquet, this year could be the perfect time to get back in the ‘swing’ of things. Today, C&G have compiled a list of all the best spots to practice your backhand in and around Bayside.

Elsternwick Park Tennis Centre

Fun for all ages and abilities, Elsternwick Park Tennis Centre offers online court bookings, private lessons and school holiday programs. Lace up your tennis shoes and jog down to 464 St Kilda Street, Brighton.

Royal Avenue Tennis Centre

With public court hire available year-round and for just $20, Royal Avenue Tennis Centre is your go-to for an impromptu rally. Also offering tiny tots tennis, social tennis for seniors, private lessons and mixed competitions, it’s an ace of a club.

Moorabbin Indoor Sports

Moorabbin Indoor Sports also offers public court hire among other services, but for something unique, give Cardio Tennis classes a try. Lead by former World #19 Nicole Bradtke on Wednesday evenings, the 60 minute class gets your heart pumping through exciting drills and racquet-ball challenges.

Dendy Park Tennis Club

For the more seasoned server, Dendy Park Tennis club is complete with 19 clay courts (13 of which are lit for night-play), clubhouse, history-rich club room and barbecue facilities. Perfect for a post-game spot of socialising. Whether you play for fun or you’ve got a competitive streak, there’s a fantastic sense of community at Dendy Park. It’s a wonderful way to meet fellow tennis lovers from the local area of Bayside, too, and the on-site bar welcomes you to enjoy a friendly drink.

Basterfield Park Tennis Club

Located in Hampton East, Basterfield Park Tennis Club is named after former local Mayor Gerald Basterfield, and is affiliated with Tennis Victoria and the Bayside Regional Tennis Association. Memberships are available for social and competitive play, preferential access to the courts with your own key and the right to vote at annual meetings. There’s a strong social atmosphere, too, with a number of friendly functions held throughout the year including ‘Wimblefield’ and ‘Oz Open Eve Mixed Doubles Tournament!’ This is certainly a tennis-lover’s club!
