Autumn School Holidays – See and Do

Local Community

Easter is over – now what? There are still just under two weeks left until it’s time to go back to school on April 11, but never fear! C&G have compiled the best activities to keep the whole family entertained, and make the most of the opportunity to provide some extra education at the same time. Hello, dinosaurs, aquatic life and enchanted mazes!

Meet Melbourne’s Coolest Chicks

Melbourne Aquarium

Derrick and Arthur are two baby king penguins who are still getting to know their parents and keepers, along with exploring their new home. You can meet them, and participate in the Dive Log trail to collect all the stamps through twelve cool zones of discovery at Sea Life (Melbourne Aquarium). Get tickets here.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition

Melbourne Museum

The Melbourne Museum presents you with the opportunity to explore the world of Isla Nublar as a VIP guest! Let your imagination run wild as you get rare-close ups of realistic dinosaurs and learn more about genetics with the Hammond Creation Lab, just like in the Spielberg films. It’s not all fiction though – you’ll learn about these prehistoric beasts through the contributions from renowned palaeontologist Jack Horner, whose collaborative input ensures that the exhibition is historically accurate – entertaining and educational! Get tickets here.

 MSO ArtPlay Ensemble

ABC Southbank Centre

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is running a series of three workshops for children aged 9-13 to take music skills learned at school to a new level of enjoyment and creativity. You can book for a single workshop or book for all three – either way, it’s a great opportunity to educate children on the beauty of classical compositions such as Schubert Symphony No. 8, which is the theme for the first workshop on April 4. More information here.

Enchanted Adventure Garden

Mornington Peninsula

It’s the home of tree-surfing, and also features three giant mazes! The Enchanted Adventure Garden at Arthurs Seat is close enough to Melbourne to make it a day-trip. There’s tube slides, a Bush Adventure Scamble, a café, lollyshop and even ‘enchanted sculpture’ – something for all ages. Get tickets here.

The Autumn Easter Holiday Program at Luna Park is also packed with fun things to do, from feature rides and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip film screenings to live rockabilly music from Rumblin’ Wolf.

Brighton Recreational Centre also has a range of fun group activities, and you can view the program here
