It’s time to celebrate the elder statespeople of Victoria, and what better than a month-long festival dedicated to them!? Packed with social, cultural and health and lifestyle events, the Victorian Seniors Festival is now in its 33rd year, and
C&G have created a shortlist of the best of the fest’s southside offerings - so grab your Grandma and get involved! 

Put the kettle on, it’s Victorian Seniors’ Festival! Whether it’s a morning tea or a pilates class, there’s something for everyone at this fest. Events are spread across the city, but there’s plenty happening in and around Bayside. 

Get active with Tai Chi

Assisting with relaxation, coordination and wellness, Cheltenham’s Tai Chi class is great for all ages and abilities. Head down to Westfield Southland on Wednesday 28th October and learn some of the deep breathing exercises and flowing movement - great for flexibility! RSVP here so you don’t miss out.

Discover Armadale with a heritage walk

The Armadale Heritage Walk on Saturday 31st October takes you on a journey of discovery through the coveted suburb, exploring rows of Federation and Edwardian houses and converted factories. The two-hour stroll means you’ll enjoy some fresh air and interesting company, as well as a good old stretch of the legs.

Get the look at Mordialloc Community Centre

If you (or your Grandparents!) are stylish types, bring them along to the Mordialloc Community Centre on Thursday 22nd October for a spring carnival fashion parade. With champagne on arrival and afternoon tea included, it’s a fun afternoon out and a great chance to meet others in the community. 

Get a hole-in-one at Malvern Valley

Malvern Valley’s open day for the Seniors’ Festival offers an 18-hole social game of golf on Tuesday 20th October at the fresh hour of 7.00am. For those early risers, your ticket gets you the round of golf and a light lunch – a chance to get social and meet some fellow players, and you don’t even need an official handicap.

See the silver screen classics at Blacklot Cinema

This matinee movie experience takes you back to the 1950s, with a traditional style silver screen experience at the Blacklot Cinema in South Melbourne. It’s totally free, and runs from 2.00pm-5.00pm on Saturday 17th October. 

Find your family history at the Immigration Museum

Venture into the city this Friday 16th October and head to the Immigration Museum for ample resources and assistance from staff on how to start mapping out your family history. Start discovering your ancestry and plotting your family tree – it’s totally free.
