Proto-feminist, ultimate Melbourne femme fatale and a character many of us have come to love either from Kerry Greenwood’s novels or the ABC series which bears her name – Phryne Fisher returns to our television screens tonight. To celebrate season three, bayside’s famous Rippon Lea Mansion are holding a ‘Festival of Phryne’. There’s much to enjoy – from a costume exhibition to a dashing formal dinner – so get our your flapper dress and ready your wits, as C&G highlights the most amusing events of the fest.

Miss Fisher’s Costume Exhibition

Held at Rippon Lea House and Gardens, Miss Fisher’s Costume Exhibition is an opulent experience showcasing the beautiful Marion Boyce costumes used in Season Three of the popular mystery series. Take a look behind the scenes at the world of costume making and set design – there’s even an opportunity for you to try on costumes and see if you’re a regular sleuth on the make. Bring your thinking cap: there’s a murder-mystery for you to solve set within the exhibition itself. Exhibition open daily from 10 am – 4 pm.

After Dark Friday Nights – Jazz, Swing and Clothes

Dance the night away as Rippon Lea is reimagined as a swoony-worthy speakeasy! The Miss Fisher’s Wardlow Tea Rooms will be transformed into a lounge bar with a jazz band on June 26th and July24th. Click here to book.
